Maine! More scenic Egrets

Great and Snowy Egrets: York County, Maine, USA, August 2024 — I might as well call this “Landscape with Egrets” . I love the layers and the textures of this shot. The way the light plays across the marsh grasses, the sand and water. It just happens to have a small flock of wading birds in the foreground. Sony a6700 with the Tamron 50-400 Di iii VC VXD zoom at 600mm equivalent. Program mode with my bird and wildlife modifications. Highlight metering mode. Processed in Photomator.

Maine! After the rains

Parson’s Beach and the Mousam River, Kennebunk, Maine, USA. August 2024 — The rains had passed and we were treated to some late afternoon sun, so of course I rode my trike down to the beach to see what I could find. This is looking back up the Mousam from the point of Parson’s Beach. Notice the Common Terns wheeling and diving over the water. Sony a5100 with the 16-50 kit lens at 24mm equivalent. Intelligent Auto, landscape scene mode. Processed in Photomator.

Maine! Tern in the sky

While photographing Least Terns in flight, I had to stop a moment and switch cameras to catch the landscape and sky. Turns out I caught a tern in flight as well. Kennebunk, Maine, USA, July 2024. Sony A5100 with 16-50 kit zoom at 24mm equivalent. Auto+ mode. Processed in Photomator.

Maine! driftwood sculpture

A gift of the beach altering storms of late winter and early spring…this massive tree trunk was deposited high on the beach against the dunes. That was all sand behind it last year. Who knows where this tree grew to this size though its history is undoubtedly written in the twisted roots. OM System OM-1 with M.Zuiko 12-45 f4 Pro zoom at 26mm equivalent. Program mode. Processed in Photomator.

Maine Landscape

Batson River above the rapids at Emmon’s Preserve, Kennebunkport, Maine, USA, April 2024 — A quiet stretch of the Batson, on a sunny April day. The woods are still open and the sun warms the ground and the water. OM System OM-1 with M.Zuiko 12-45 f4 Pro at 24mm equivalent. Program mode with in-camera HDR. Processed in Photomator.

Maine Landscape

Kennebunk Plains Nature Conservancy, Kennebunk, Maine, USA, April 2024 — More of a sky-scape than landscape, since the plains have not really come alive yet after the winter. Signs of life but still pretty subdued. The sky makes up for it. OM System OM-1 with M.Zuiko 12-45 f4 Pro zoom at 24mm equivalent. Program mode. In-camera HDR. Processed in Photomator and Apple Photos.
