Sanderling: York County, Maine, USA, September 2023 — The Sanderlings were enjoying the water caught in the broken clam shells on the beach, the day after Hurricane Lee passed. I am not sure it was salt water from the ocean or fresh water from the rains…but they came back repeatedly to sample it. If you look closely at the first shot, you might see the water actually traveling up the tongue. OM Systems OM1 with ED 100-400mm zoom at 800mm equivalent.
