Loch Lochy Improved?

Loch Lochy Improved?

After a few comments on today’s Pic of the Day, please see Loch Lochy, I decided to edit out the gravel heap and tree in the center, just to see how it looked? I used the clone tool in Photoshop Elements 7.0 and carefully painted out the both the pile and the tree.

What do you think?

It is certainly a different image. I am not sure which I like best.

See it larger here. Loch Lochy Improved.

And for a really extreme tweak, take a look at this.

I actually like the composition with the gravel better! more unusual.

I like the gravel removed better. It’s kind of like an eyesore in the middle of the picture. Almost like it was the focus because it was bullseyed……….great job on cloning it out, looks perfect!

It does look like a different image! I like this one better. My eye was drawn to the pile of gravel in the earlier one. In this one I notice the loch and hills in the background. Are you liking Elements 7? I have 6 and am not sure if I should upgrade or not.

Oh, I like this wp theme — I use it for some old family photos I’ve begun uploading.

I have no doubt that the “no gravel” version is a cleaner, nicer photo, but I wonder if it’s better. I personally have few qualms about removing distracting elements from photos, but I do worry about it being a sort of slippery slope, whereby “nature” photographs wind up looking like celebrities who’ve had too much plastic surgery. I suppose everyone has to draw (or erase) their own lines here.

Anyhow, a fun excercise, and a nice landscape, either way.

I like the gravel out but would prefer the tree back… but I dont like the over worked version… I prefer it to look more natural…
