I have found your ebooks excellent and your photos outstanding. I am a novice at photography and birdwatching. I have just purchased the sx50 and get some good photos. I would like to take better photos, I started reading “canon sx50hs the ultimate compact nature,landscape, and wild life solutions.” I understand that you are writing this at the moment. Is there any date when it might be finished, also will it be available on this site or will I be able to access it from somewhere else. I would be grateful it you could let me know as what I have read up to now is very interesting.

Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it. As for the SX50HS book…well, it seemed like a good idea when I was on my long Christmas vacation, but as soon as I got back to work I realized I would probably never finish before the next model comes out. As I think about it, I may post some more detailed tips on how I use the camera on the SX50HS community on Google+. It comes down to, in my limited free time, do I write, or do I take pictures? 🙂
I recently purchased Point and Shoot Photography. Very good. The presentation allows me to coordinate between you book and the manual for my camera. I switched last year from decades of Nikon film and slr cameras to a Sony RX10 IV.A trop to Alaska convinced me the weighty camera equipment was not worth it. I do, however find there is a learning curve for the Sony.
At present I am attempting to set up the Sony as you suggest on page 37 and 38. I would like to have C1 for wildlife-especially birds and C2 for landscape. I am having difficulty with the terminology and choices on the camera not coordinating with the well thought out directions in your book. Perhaps it is me developing some mental block.
Any suggestions I would appreciate.

I do stand somewhat embarrassed. Further research led me to find the memory settings for my camera. This is initially what I thought the C1 and C2 buttons were for. I will check out your book. Thank you.

i am happy that i have found you, you site and your book….
i have set my p900 as instructed on the “point and shoot for nature photography”
i am still having difficulty….all the birds on the water today were blurred..
the long-eared owl seemed overexposed…
