Song Sparrow Grub

image

If my hunts for dragonflies do nothing else, but they get me out in the field more often…and, as I have said before, the secret to nature photography is simple: be there, be aware, and be ready. I saw this Song Sparrow digging grubs from an old rotting post in the marsh, and watched as it flew to the branch of a tree literally right above my head. A bit if maneuvering to find a clear line of sight, and there was the image. I shot off a burst as the bird was moving, and selected this as the best.
