Blackburnian Warbler! BSBO.

image

I am spending my days at the Optics Alley at Black Swamp Bird Observatory just down the road from the greatest Warbler Show in North America on the boardwalk at Magee Marsh. It is the Biggest Week in American Birding Festival again. Even at BSBO, right above the Optics tent, the trees yield a treasure of warblers and other migrants. I shot this amazing Blackburnian while standing just outside the ZEISS booth.

The Blackburnian is, to my eye, one of the more spectacular spring warblers. We see a few in Maine but never as close as they are in Ohio, and never in the numbers we see on a good day at Magee. And everyone is a treat.
