Bittersweet in the Snow

image

I am still working through my images from Saturday’s snowy morning. This is a little cluster of Bittersweet among the Beach Rose on the dunes between Back Creek and the Ocean, where Back Creek meets the Mousam River. The texture of the snow is part of the subject here, as well as the bright red and orange berries. I was never sure why Bittersweet found its way into so many holiday certerpieces…but it is really, along with a few left over rose hips, the only spot of bright color in the winter landscape.
