2/1/2012: Limpkin and Little Blue, Viera Wetlands

As I am sure I have mentioned, Viera Wetlands in Melbourne Florida is one of my top favorite places to photograph birds. All of the likely birds of any FL season can be found there and waders and waterfowl are abundant and often close. This "pair" were ideally placed for a dual portrait and for individual shots. Limkins are easy at Vista where there seems to be an unending supply of Apple Snails to feed them.  This Little Blue Heron, on the other hand, is one of only two I saw in FL this trip.

1) Canon SX40HS at 1240mm equivalent field of view. Program with iContrast and -1/3EV exposure compensation. f5.8 @1/800th @ ISO 200. 2) Canon SD100HS behind the 30mm eyepiece of the ZEISS DiaScope 65FL for 2565mm equivalent. 1/200th @ ISO 160. 3) SD100HS at same focal length. 1/500th @ ISO 320. Both Program with iContrast and -1/3EV exposure compensation.

Processed in Lightroom for intensity, clarity and sharpness.
