3/2/2011: Winter Marsh, Kennebunk

This is not the view from my window this morning. I am in San Diego for a few days attending at Birding Festival (for work). This is the day after our most recent significant snow (and ice) storm. We are having many days this winter/spring of snow, turning to rain, turning to ice. Not pleasant for travel, but sometimes visually beautiful. In this shot I really like the range of light, from open shadow to the sun on the reeds. I would have like to held more detail in the sky, but there was a low cloud there anyway, and, short of HDR,  it was going white. (And I am not sure HDR would have gotten much.)

Canon SX20IS at about 100mm equivalent field of view, f4.5 @ 1/320th @ ISO 80. Snow Mode.

Processed for intensity and clarity in Lightroom.
