Canada Lily

Canada Lily

The Acadia Wildgardens at Sieur de Mont Springs in Acadia National Park are, in season, an amazingly rich photographic resource in a tiny little patch of tended woodland, mini-meadow, and micro-marsh. Volunteers from the local garden club keep it planted with a wide variety of plants and wildflowers native to Mt. Desert Island and the upper Atlantic Coast.

This stand of Canada Lily, only a half dozen plants or so, was in the mini-meadow on the edge of the micro-marsh. I took many different views from various angles…above and below…close in and further back. This one, with the second flower making an interesting out of focus accent in the background, is the one that keeps my attention best.

I actually set this up in camera, moving around the flower to place that second bloom exactly were it is.

Sony H50. F5.6 @ 1/400 @ ISO 100. Programed Auto.

All I did to this in Lightroom was bring the highlights down a tiny bit with Recovery, and sharpen it slightly with the Sharpen Landscape preset.

It is from the Bar Harbor 08 Gallery.
