Hike Against Gold
Past sunset on a cold, snowy day, we took a hike around the fields at the Wells Estuarine Research Center, known locally as Laudholm Farms. The light was gold, the snow was white, and this rusted farm implement was caught against both. As I was framing it, a cross country skier entered from the right, behind the machinery. It was only a matter then of zooming up to about 120mm equiv. and waiting until he got to the hot spot in the composition.
Sony H9. F5 @ 1/500 @ ISO 100. Programed Auto.
In Lightroom, I had to apply a good deal of fill light for the foreground, and I used a little Clarity and Vibrance for overall effect. Sharpen Landscape preset.
It is from the Around Home Gallery.
Very well done image
I think it needs to be straighten and eliminate the object in the lower left corner. Even crop the left side where the fence has a gap. Otherwise, a good shot…
I received several “straighten the horizon” comments…but, actually there was a hill there and the horizon is “straight”. However, David has a point about the little dark object in the lower left corner. That has to go! I will crop and repost.
The link a the bottom above now leads to the revised version, following some of the suggestions from David. Or here: http://singraham.smugmug.com/gallery/6794165_V2Yzb/1/#434178751_8nuwa-A-LB
