We don&#8217;t see them often, though<br \/>\nthey are obviously around. Of course<br \/>\nit was just flying off when I got back,&nbsp;<br \/>\nbut still, it was the harbinger of a large&nbsp;<br \/>\nmixed feeding flock, and I stood, propped&nbsp;<br \/>\nup in the open back door, and shot birds&nbsp;<br \/>\nfor 15 minutes as they came and went.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"margin: 1em 0px; outline: none; padding: 0px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: &quot;Helvetica Neue Light&quot;, HelveticaNeue-Light, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers, Chick-<br \/>\nadees and Titmice, a Nuthatch, and several&nbsp;<br \/>\nJays (who would not come close while I&nbsp;<br \/>\nstood there). Even a lone and lonely Junco,&nbsp;<br \/>\napparently desperate for feathered company.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"margin: 1em 0px; outline: none; padding: 0px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: &quot;Helvetica Neue Light&quot;, HelveticaNeue-Light, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">I stood until I heard the furnace kick in,<br \/>\nand noticed my ears were getting cold.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"margin: 1em 0px; outline: none; padding: 0px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: &quot;Helvetica Neue Light&quot;, HelveticaNeue-Light, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">By then it was mostly Chickadees and<br \/>\nTitmice anyway&#8230;and I never did see<br \/>\nthat Red-bellied Woodpecker again.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is one of the Downy Woodpeckers and one of the resulting images \ud83d\ude42 It is this kind of image that I was hoping for when I built and rebuilt the feeding station.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sony RX10iii at 600mm equivalent field of view.
