First Chipping Sparrow of spring<\/p>\n\n\n\n

today at the feeders. Some of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Song Sparrows never left, and<\/p>\n\n\n\n

flocks are back by now, but the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chippers will not be here in force<\/p>\n\n\n\n

for another week or so. This one<\/p>\n\n\n\n

is obviously a scout or a pioneer,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

out ahead of the wave, sent out,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

or out because that is where he<\/p>\n\n\n\n

wants to be, not worried by his<\/p>\n\n\n\n

loneliness. Maybe he is even<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a pair\u2026I have only seen the one<\/p>\n\n\n\n

so far, and I would not be able<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to tell if I am seeing one, or only<\/p>\n\n\n\n

one at a time. Whatever. It is<\/p>\n\n\n\n

good to see the Chippers back.
