If you look closely you will see that their beaks are actually intwined. In the hour or so we observed the Macaws around the feeders we got to see a variety of different behaviors. At the end of the hour they all got up as a group and flew away up the open aisle between the trees, to disperse back to forest feeding and nest tending. Sony RX10iv at 95mm.
