I got my first, and only, Limpkin walking right along the road less than a quarter mile into the Birding Loop. Such a strange, ancient looking bird&#8230;and so specialized. They only eat snails, Apple Snails by preference (and tradition) but they are, I am told, becoming accustomed to an invasive snail introduced to Florida waters several years ago.
